Cardiovascular internal medicine department, established in 1982, is the earliest specialty in this field in Zhenjiang. It is now the National and Jiangsu provincial clinical key specialty, master's degree granting point, the coronary diagnosis training base of National Health and Family Planning Commission, the first batch of translational medicine bases in Jiangsu province and the Chest Pain Center with national approval.

The department consists of general wards, Coronary Heart Diseases Care Center, Cardiac Intervention Center, Cardiovascular Diseases Institute of Jiangsu University, Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Diseases of Zhenjiang and Cardiac Function Room. The department provides 150 beds open for patients, 20 sets of Coronary care unit (CCU). We have more than one hundred medical staffs, including thirty-six doctors, among them, there are fifteen doctors with doctoral degree, two doctoral supervisors, eight master supervisors, two professors and three associate professors. The department has introduced a large number of modern equipment and technologies, including 2 sets of digital subtraction angiography (DSA), optical coherence tomography (OCT), intravascular ultrasound, coronary atherectomy device, coronary pressure guide wire, intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation, three-dimensional reconstruction system of heart and three-dimensional echocardiography.

The department possesses strong scientific research strength. More than 20 national and provincial scientific research projects are in development, in which 7 projects are funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC); Scientific research fund has reached over 10 million RMB with 10 to 12 doctoral or master degree postgraduate students recruited annually. In recent years, the department has won more than 20 prizes, including the First Prize in Medicine of Jiangsu province, the Third Prize in Chinese Medicine, the Second Prize in Science and Technology Progress of Jiangsu province, the Third Prize in Science and Technology Progress of Jiangsu province, the Second Prize in Medicine of Jiangsu province, the First and Second Prize in Introduction of Innovative Technology of Jiangsu province, and the First Prize in Science and Technology Progress of Zhenjiang.

【Technical Feature】

The department takes the lead in conducting “Seamless link” to treat acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and has trained more than 2000 front line clinical physicians, in which “the training course of delay countermeasures in AMI treatment for community hospitals” was granted the honor of excellent promotion project of Jiangsu in further education. It is the first medical institution to create a new coregionalization model in AMI treatment based on the Internet of Things, which has been recognized by domestic and foreign peer experts.

Plenty of research achievements have been published in Chinese Journal of Cardiology, Chinese Journal of Emergency Medicine, Inter J Card and many other authoritative magazines. The department has received more than one million RMB project fund. It carries out regular treatments, such as myocardial infarction by 24-hour emergency radial artery interventional therapy, terminal heart failure, myocardial infarction, myocardiopathy by therapy of autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation and coronary heart disease by interventional therapy, it is able to assess coronary artery pathologic change by intravascular rotablation, coronary vascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography, it performs the treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT), ventricular tachycardia (VT), atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, pre-excitation syndrome and other cardiac arrhythmias diseases by radiofrequency ablation, it can perform treatment of atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus and other congenital heart diseases by occlusion, it can carry out all kinds of temporary or permanent pacemaker placement. The annual interventional operations amount to more than 3500 cases, including more than 1300 cases of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) operations, over 250 cases of permanent pacemaker placement operations, over 250 cases of ablation operations and about 30 cases of interventional operations of congenital heart disease.

Yan Jinchuan, assistant director of affiliated hospital of Jiangsu University, chief doctor, professor, doctoral supervisor, member of Jiangsu Medical Leading Talent, member of "333" Project in Jiangsu Province（second level），national and Jiangsu provincial excellent science and technology workers, standing member of cardiovascular group of Chinese Interactive Medicine Association, standing member of Jiangsu cardiovascular group of Chinese Interactive Medicine Association. Dr. Yan is proficient in many of interventional therapies, including cardiac pacing, coronary angiography, intravascular ultrasound and Rotablation technology, chemical ablation of cardiomyopathy, and renal artery stenting, especially the radial artery interventional therapy. He has completed more than 10,000 cases of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) operations.
