Introduction of Affiliated Hospital of Jiangsu University

Affiliated Hospital of Jiangsu University (UJSH), which is also called Zhenjiang Jiangbin Hospital, was founded in 1936. After decades of construction and development, the hospital has developed into a modern one with comprehensive disciplines, advanced equipment and powerful technology, combing many important functions into the hospital, namely, medical treatment, education, scientific research, health prevention, healthcare and convalescence. It is one of the first group of Class III Grade I Hospitals approved by National Health and Family Planning Commission of the PRC (NHFPC) in 1995. It is directly under the supervision of Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Health and Family Planning, it is one of international emergency rescue hospitals listed by the NHFPC, it is the pilot hospital for standardized treatment of common tumors, it is a national clinical drug testing institute, and it is the base for cerebral apoplexy screening and prevention of the NHFPC, and the coronary therapy training base of the NHFPC. At present, the hospital covers an area over 100 mu. The building area takes up about 160000 square meters. We have the staff over 2000, with ward beds over 1500 for patients. And we have set up 39 clinical departments and 16 medical technology departments.

We have professional specialty teams. We have set up a number of national or provincial key clinical specialties, including Department of Cardiology, Digestive Department, Oncology Department, General Surgery Department, Department of Burn & Plastic Surgery, Radiology Department, Department of Dermatology, Department of Medical Laboratory Testing Department, Traditional Chinese Medicine Department and Department of Pediatrics. And we have established several Zhenjiang municipal key specialties, such as Emergency Department, Endocrine Department, Anesthesiology Department, Orthopedics Department, Respiratory Medicine, Neurology Department, Nuclear Medicine Department, Urology Department, and Clinical Nursing Department. What is more, we have set up the Thrombus Treatment Center, Regenerative Medicine Centre, Chest Pain Center and Sino-US Research and Transformation Center for Biological Treatment of Granulocyte. We take the lead in the level and the number of key specialties in Zhenjiang.

We have large number of high-quality intellectuals. We have three Jiangsu provincial medical innovation teams, three members of Jiangsu Medical Leading Talent, Key Medical Talent of Jiangsu Province, Double Innovation talents of Jiangsu Province, distinguished medical experts, cultivating objects of "333" Project in Jiangsu Province, cultivating objects of “Six-kind Talent Peak” project in Jiangsu Province, and chairman and vice chairman of specialty societies under Jiangsu provincial Medical Association. We also have over 100 PHD supervisors and postgraduate supervisors. In our hospital, with about 400 staff obtaining doctoral or master degree, we are constructing a high-quality medical force with international level.

We have introduced lots of internationally advanced equipment and technology, such as German Siemens 52-ring PET-CT, American Varian TrueBeam, German Siemens 3.0T and 1.5T magnetic resonance, American Single photon emission computerized tomography scanner (SPECT), the most advanced Revolution CT, 128-layer spiral CT, large Digital subtraction angiography (DSA), large biochemical analyzer, endoscopic ultrasonography, artificial heart-lung machine and color Doppler ultrasonography.

What is more, we have a pleasant environment. The landscaping area covers over 25000 square meters, and the hospital square covers nearly 10000 square meters. We have three main buildings towering aloft in the hospital, namely, the Complex Building over 40000 square meters for Emergency Center, Outpatient Clinic and Medical Technology, the Surgical Building over 50000 square meters, and the Building of Internal Medicine over 30000 square meters. We have spacious consulting room, comfortable patients ward and advanced facilities. The modern, user-friendly and ecological consulting environment has reached the highest rank in China.

We are making breakthroughs in medical technology every year. In recent years, we have been granted over 600 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects. We have held over 80 international, national and provincial academic forums, have received approximate one hundred provincial and municipal science and technology progress awards, and have obtained over 50 innovative technology introduction awards granted by Jiangsu province and Jiangsu Provincial Commission of Health and Family Planning. Our hospital takes the first in Zhenjiang in acquiring the qualifications of National Clinical Drug Testing Institute in five specialties, including cardiovascular specialty. And we are awarded the “Excellent Unit of Science and technology Progress” by Zhenjiang government annually.

We actively push forward the public hospital reform. As the core of the “Jiangsu Jiangbin Medical Treatment Group”, we have made beneficial exploration and practice in establishing the new form of urban and rural medical and health system. Former Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Zhang huaixi, Governor of Jiangsu province, Li Xueyong, former Party Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Zhang mao, and Vice Minister, Yin Li have come to inspect the public hospital reform and acknowledged the operation and development of “Jiangsu Jiangbin Medical Treatment Group”.
